STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...The history of Longines Silver Arrow began in 1956, when the brand first launched the Silver Arrow model. The watch takes its name from the iconic Mercedes Benz Formula 1 racing cars of the era.
The new Longines Silver Arrow features a classic 1950s design that remains true to the original watch. It retains the recognizable rectangular, silver striped indexes from the original design, which give it a vintage look. These indices are mounted on a silver opal dial and are coated with a Swiss Super-LumiNova coating, as are the silver-polished hands. The dial is protected by a convex, scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The glass has been coated with an anti-reflective coating on the underside to ensure excellent readability. The convex shape of the glass emphasizes the traditional and vintage look of the watch.
The mechanism is L888.5 with a silicon balance spring. ETA developed especially for the exclusive use of Longines (and sometimes only "borrowed" by Omega as a family).
First of all, the L888 mechanism introduces a rather unusual (although common in co-axial Omegas) balance wheel operating frequency of 25,200 "vibrations" per hour.
Secondly, the quite unique and innovative Nivachoc "double T" anti-shock system is used on the balance axis stones - created by Nivarox and developed together with Omega, and currently produced by ETA for Longines and Omega. This system guards the balance axis.
The third significant modification is the elimination of the classic balance regulator, which means that the movement accuracy of the mechanism is permanently set at the factory using laser measurement.
Whilst the original will of course remain a classic, this new interpretation will become the same and benefits from the modern day watch technology ensuring many years or fuss free wear. No longer in production and therefore your chance to own this like new watch and set.>!!
