STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
Omega Seamaster DeVille Crosshair
Ref. 166.020 | Calibre 565 | Circa 1960s
An enduring icon of Omegas mid-century design language, this vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille Ref. 166.020 captures the restrained elegance that defined the brand during the 1960s. With its crisp silver crosshair dial, balanced proportions, and reliable in-house automatic movement, this is a quintessential dress watch with everyday versatility.
Presented here in very good vintage condition and recently professionally serviced, it offers both mechanical confidence and timeless style.
The Dial
The standout feature is the beautifully preserved silver sunburst crosshair dial. Fine intersecting lines divide the dial vertically and horizontally, lending subtle symmetry and vintage character. Applied baton hour markers and slim steel hands maintain a clean, minimalist aesthetic, while the framed date aperture at 3 oclock adds practical functionality without disturbing the balance.
Signed Omega Automatic beneath 12 and Seamaster DeVille above 6, the dial reflects the refined branding of the period understated yet unmistakable.
The Case
Housed in a classic 34mm stainless steel case, the Ref. 166.020 wears elegantly on the wrist. The proportions are perfectly judged: slim, refined, and comfortably versatile for both formal and casual settings.
The case remains in very good condition, showing only light wear commensurate with age. The lines are well-defined, and the overall presentation is sharp and honest exactly what collectors seek in a vintage Omega.
The watch is fitted with a high-quality leather strap and a matching Omega signed buckle.
The Movement
Powering the watch is the celebrated Omega Calibre 565, an in-house automatic movement renowned for its durability and precision.
Automatic winding
Quickset date function
24 jewels
Approx. 50-hour power reserve
This example has been recently serviced, ensuring accurate timekeeping and reliable performance. The Cal. 565 is particularly desirable for its quickset date feature adjusted by pulling the crown making it practical for modern wear.
Why the Ref. 166.020?
The Seamaster DeVille line represents a transitional moment in Omegas history, bridging the sportier Seamaster lineage with the refined De Ville dress aesthetic. The crosshair dial variants are especially sought after for their distinctive symmetry and vintage charm.

Here at Stonebridge Watches we like to seek out and offer the very best vintage watches and especially Omega Seamasters. Whilst we have great affection for all their different variations, we have to acknowledge we just love a ''crosshair'' dial. Such a simple addition to the dial and yet it elevates it even further and only enhances that ''vintage feel''. For a watch that is over 60 years old it is in exceptional condition with a very gentle patina and it retains it's original lustre. As you can tell from our enthusiastic description a much admired example and our social media followers seem to agree.
This Omega Seamaster DeVille Ref. 166.020 is a refined and collectible example of 1960s Swiss watchmaking a piece equally suited to seasoned collectors and those beginning their vintage journey.
